			OCWM Our Church's Wider Mission Committee

M. supervise and correlate the benevolence budget of the church-all that may be raised by designated pledges and by periodic special offerings. The committee evaluates and approves any special offerings and mission projects; helps promote missionary giving and systematic giving to our benevolence work; assists the Board of Christian Education in missionary education programs; and tries to nurture the ideals of Christian charity and stewardship throughout the congregation.
			Committee Operating Details The committee takes the summer off and then meets the second Wednesday of September, October, and November. December and January are taken of for Christmas. The spring meeting schedule is the second Wednesday of February, March, and April. The OCWM/OCB committee is unique in that it is a pass through committee. The money received is paid out in the following month. The OCWM collections are paid 100% to the conference. The OCB collections are paid to organizations predetermined the prior year. The OCB pledges are budgeted for the year during the pledge process in October and November. However, there are some pledges left unbudgetted to cover donations which may come up during the year. The chairman is in charge of all the paperwork except the meeting minutes which the committee secretary takes. Payments are made through the church office once a month. Other members of the committee are responsible for finding organizations for new donations as well as evoluating existing organizations to see if they need continued donations.
